Over the summer, we visited Adam's parents in Idaho and they gave us a box FULL of vegetables from their garden. One Sunday, Kensie had a crazy, spur-of-the-moment idea and decided to use beets to dye a white dress she had.
She used
this and
this as her main research sources and then just kind of made it up on the way.
Here's how it went:
| Boiling the beets in water/vinegar to extract the color. |
| Throwing away the beet chunks, leaving just the dyed liquid. |
| Kensie decided to dye the dress from the bottom up to create an ombre look. |
| It simmered for a while and then just sat and soaked overnight. |
| We decided to let it drip dry in the shower. |
| More drip-drying, then a run through the dryer to set the color. |
| It came out great! |
